16 week appointment
Posted on November 21st, 2006 @ 4:23 pm

I had an appointment with my OB today and as soon as he put the doppler on my stomach we heard the heartbeat which was strong and fast! That is just sweet music to my ears! We have an appointment set for our big ultrasound on December 12th so we are hoping the baby will cooperate and we can find out the sex!

On a seperate note, we are all sick in the house! Drew was sick the entire time we were in Baton Rouge and then Peter and I woke up sick the day after we got back. Drew has an ear infection and seems to be feeling better today although you can tell he is still feeling pretty crummy.

It finally happened!
Posted on November 12th, 2006 @ 7:05 pm

Drew crawled out of his crib today. He woke up about 7:30 and we usually let him stay in there because he talks and plays for a while. Well, all of that happened plus some banging on the crib and then all of a sudden it got quiet. Bad sign in our house! I had Peter go check on him and he opened the door and said (which I heard over the baby monitor) “Our worst fears have been realized!”- next thing I know Drew was running down the hall going “Dada! Dada!”. Peter came in our room and confirmed that Drew was on the floor playing when he walked in and that is why it was so quiet. Now the hunt starts for a bed. Im not ready for this yet!

Peter is worse than I am!!!

So Peter took Drew out today and wouldnt tell me where they were going. They come back with a big square box – he just HAD to buy Drew a choo-choo for under the Christmas tree. Drew came home and couldn’t wait to get in the box and kept saying “choo-choo”. Here are a couple of pictures:

Inspiration to others

So most of you reading my blog know that I’ve done a scrapbook of Colin and have posted it online at www.digitalscrapbookplace.com. I remember telling mom that I wasn’t sure I wanted to “share him” with everybody online so I didn’t know if I wanted to post my pages. Other thing too was that I wasn’t sure how people would react to seeing a baby who was deceased. Im sitting here near tears right now because I can not tell you guys how many people have emailed me saying they came across my scrapbook pages of Colin and cried over them and then let me know that I encouraged them to make layouts of their angels or record memories that were so long ago tucked away. A lady just emailed me tonight saying her daughter was born 42 years ago and only lived for 18 hours. The baby was taken away from her and she was not allowed to see her while she was still alive and only got to hold her after she has passed away for a few minutes. She has no pictures of her and didn’t even get to attend her funeral. After reading my pages I did for Colin, I gave her the courage to face those memories and write them down in some way in order to honor her angel.

I often times think “why did God take him from me?” or “why did it have to happen to him?” and then realize that Colin’s short life MEANT SOMETHING- not to just me, Peter, Drew, or my family, but to complete strangers who I have never met. God gave him to us for a short time but his life will have an impact on people forever. And that just makes me so proud that he was my son.

Posted on November 7th, 2006 @ 1:13 pm

Im feeling pretty good- haven’t had any pain or bleeding since the day of surgery. If I wasn’t there to know that I had something done, I wouldn’t even know. Its killing me being on bedrest though. Im completely bored and cant wait until the 14th for my f/u appt and to get released to normal activities.

Here are some pictures of Drew from today:
