Big boy
Posted on November 29th, 2007 @ 10:56 pm

I took Ryan to the doctor for a followup from his UTI and Mr. Chunk Monkey weighs 20 lbs! He is not even 8 months old yet. In comparison, Drew at 2.5 weighs 25 lbs. Both of the boys got their flu shots that day as well and when we got home Drew told me he went to the “green doctor” and got a “flu shot”. He said he “got hurt” when the doctor came in. And he wanted to leave his “bambage” (bandage) on and wouldnt let us take it off.

We are still experimenting with foods for Ryan. So far he does not like any of the store bought baby food. I made applesaue and sweet potatoes for him and he doesnt really care for them. He did eat a banana but not avocado. The child LOVE refried beans though.

He is crawling but is not terribly good at it. He can definitely get to where he wants to go- its a combination of crawling and pulling himself on his tummy.

Thanksgiving festivities
Posted on November 25th, 2007 @ 6:08 pm

We had a good time at thanksgiving! Mom, dad, Blake, Elicia, and Taylor came over and spent the day with us. We ate too much food and watched a lot of football- good time!

Ryan is starting to crawl. For the past week he has been getting up on his hands and knees and revving up getting ready to crawl. He can move his knee forward and his hand and then lunges onto his belly to move forward. Then he doest it all over again. Its pretty cute.

Ryan HATES store bought baby food. I tried apples, peaches, bananas, carrots, squash, green beans, and peas and he hated them. So I made some of my own baby food and he is doing better with that. Ive tried my own apples and sweet potatoes and he also likes fresh bananas. He hated the avocado so I wont try that one again. He also tried some puff snacks that Elicia had for Taylor and he liked those too.

Drew is doing well. A few times the past couple of days he has gone to the potty by himself. I will let him run around naked and if you ask him “what are you not supposed to do without a diaper on?” and he says “not tee-tee on the carpet or the couch”. I will ask him “where are you supposed to go?” and he says “in the potty”. So he knows what he is supposed to do its just getting him to do it. He has become very contrary these days as well. Tells us no for everything and whines and throws a fit when he has to do something he doesnt like or doesnt get to do things.

Drew has been so excited about Christmas too. Our neighbors put their lights up the day before Thanksgiving and he walked out side and said “Look! Christmas!”.

Drew’s Thanksgiving program
Posted on November 16th, 2007 @ 1:33 pm

Here are some pictures from Drew’s thanksgiving program at school. They were supposed to sing 2 songs and none of the 2 year old class actually sung. But they were all cute standing on stage!

The test results came back and verified that it was a UTI so he is on 10 days of anti-biotics and then we will follow-up with his pedi.

Here are some pictures of the boys from yesterday.

Another UTI and a huge scare
Posted on November 13th, 2007 @ 7:14 am

Ryan scared me today. He has had a cold for the past week. On Sat and Sun he woke up from his naps really hot and when I took his temp it was 101 but would go down to normal about 20-30 minutes later. So I just thought he was hot from being under a blanket while napping.

Well this morning he was grump but not feverish so I just thought it was his cold. I put him down for a nap and he slept for 2.5 hrs. When he woke up he was burning up. I sat down at the computer to give him a bottle and noticed he was shaking. He was so lethargic, his face had no color, and his lips were blue- took his temp and it was 102.9. I called the pedi, layed him on my bed, and jumped in the shower waiting for the doctor to call. When I got out, he was just laying there wimpering and then started throwing up. So I threw on clothes but both boys in the car and headed to the ER.

In the meantime, I called the pedi and someone called me back and the nurse said it sounded like he had a febrile seizure and that I should definitely go to the ER. We got there and he started acting a little better and an hour later got called into triage. His temp was up to 103.3 so they gave him Motrin and he took a little nap. When he woke up he was definitely feeling better. We finally got called back to a room- 2 hours later. Saw the doc, she ordered a chest xray and urinalysis. Xrays were clear but the urinalysis showed he has another UTI. So he got 2 shots of rocephin today and oral antibiotics and we are to followup with is pedi tomorrow or Wednesday.

So other than being cranky from being poked and prodded and not feeling well because of his cold and now UTI- he is doing better. No fever and he was smiling and laughing and flapping when he saw Peter.

But I scared Drew today- he saw me crying when Ryan was having his seizure and asked “why are you mad momma?” and I told him I wasnt mad I was scared and he asked “where you scared of the mask momma?” (talking about the halloween mask that scared the crap out of him when he was trick or treating).

On a much happier note- he was laying on his back on the hospital bed and rolled from back to tummy again. So Sunday wasnt a fluke and he is now a rolling machine!

He rolled over
Posted on November 11th, 2007 @ 11:54 pm

Ryan finally rolled over from back to tummy today! He only did it once but Peter and I both saw it so it counts! He is still not sitting up on his own and not crawling. But he can pull him self if he is on his tummy around in circles- its pretty funny!
